Doohan Memorial Flight Rescheduled

Space Services, Inc. has announced that the memorial flight with the remains of James "Scotty" Doohan, and of astronaut Gordon Cooper has been delayed until at least until May, 2006.

In a recent post SSI stated "The Explorers Flight will be the largest ever memorial spaceflight – there are 187 participants from 12 countries aboard. The launch could occur in the second quarter of 2006, and there may be only a few weeks advance notice provided, so please be certain to check this space often if you plan to attend."

Click here to read a statement by SpaceX concerning the maiden flight of the Falcon 1 launch vehicle from the Marshall Islands. "On February 9, SpaceX executed a successful flight countdown all the way to lighting the engine. Although there wasn't a launch this time, SpaceX made a great deal of progress refining the rocket and launch pad. SpaceX is looking to reschedule the maiden flight of the Falcon 1, possibly to late February or early March. Once that launch occurs, our flight — The Explorers Flight (to fly on another Falcon 1) — can be scheduled for liftoff. Currently, the Explorers Flight is projected to occur no earlier than May 2006."

We'll keep you up to date with any information as it occurs
