Recently in a post on the Star Trek:New Voyages website, it was announced that author David Gerrold would be joining the production team for the show's creative staff.
Mr. Gerrold has two stories online, "The first is a re-worked Blood and Fire, which was originally pitched for TNG, but ultimately rejected for it's controversial storyline, dealing with an AIDS-like virus and homosexuality."
James Cawley, (Kirk) Executive Producer enthused "This is a real coup for all of us here at New Voyages. David's involvement will give us the opportunity to deal with socially relevant topics, just as the original series did."
