Takei Accepts Offer...


George Takei (Sulu-TOS) has accepted the offer from the production staff at Star Trek: New Voyages to reprise his role as the famed Helmsman, Hikaru Sulu

In a post on the New Voyages Website, James Cawley (Kirk-STNV) announced that the actor will reprise his role in the episode "World Enough and Time" written by Marc Scott Zicree and Michael Reaves

Zicree, who penned the DS9 episode "Far Beyond The Stars" in which Sisko lives the life of an oppressed 20th centruy writer, while Reaves pitched a never-produced Star Trek-Phase II that Paramount axed in lieu of making feature films. Zicree will also be taking the director's chair for the episode, saying that "Michael and I are about to begin writing what I feel confident will be one of the landmark episodes of Trek"

In related news, the New Voyages website also announced the inclusion of actor Christian Malmin to potray the role of Sarek in "What Lies Beneath" written by Jack Trevino and Eathan Calk. Malmin has appeared in recurring roles on Days of Our Lives and other shows. I am extremely thrilled to be asked to appear as Spock's father on New Voyages," Malmin said, promising to "do my homework" and recreate the role of Sarek.
